It’s always best to get your jewelry cleaned professionally, but it’s also easy to do at home with basic ingredients. First, soak your jewelry in warm water and dishwashing soap for about 20 - 40 minutes, then gently brush with a soft toothbrush. Lastly rinse off the soap and let dry. Don’t clean your jewelry with toothpaste, baking soda, or any powdered cleaners because it can scratch metals, particularly gold.
Store your jewelry in a fabric-lined box or individually wrapped to prevent scratches. Avoid throwing them in random drawers.
Keep away from beauty products and chemicals
Try to keep your jewelry away from your lotions, perfumes, hair products, and cosmetics. Apply them before you wear your pieces. Also keep them away from your household cleaners because they can harm some gemstones and affect gold.
Don't remove your ring in public
Try not to remove your ring when washing your hands in a public restroom. Most likely you will forget it there!
Don't put your ring through unnecessary wear
It's best to take off your jewelry while playing at the gym. It can bend or break the prongs that hold your stones in place. Also never wear your bracelets or chains while you are sleeping, but plain rings are ok though. You don’t want to put pressure on the delicate chains.
